Steel hardtail mountain bikes are a staple in the midwest. We at the shop all grew up on them and love the way they have evolved particularly in the last few years. We set out to build the perfect modern hardtail that won't feel antiquated in 5 years time. Here's what we came up with. - A balanced geometry that doesn't slacken your headtube to the point of making your front wheel flop in the tight, windy singletrack, but it promises to gives you enough confidence when you're riding somewhere a bit rockier and steeper, say up in Duluth or Marquette. - A sufficiently tight rear-center wheelbase to make the bike nimble but not comically "tukt." We do like a stable rear end for those longer days after all. - A Steel frame that doesn't feel like a tank. - Wireless shifting? yes please! Less cable stop interruptions on this beautiful fade done by our friend Oliver at Dark Matter Finishing. Enough rambling. You should ride this bike, or at least see it in person.

There's a dizzying range of bikes out there these days—XC, trail, all-mountain, enduro—what if you want a bike that you can just climb onto and ride? The Trail 429 is that bike. It accelerates and climbs like a cross-country bike yet more than holds its own on rough, technical terrain. Effortless handling, incredible power transfer, and blazing acceleration are what set the Trail 429 apart from so many other trail bikes. With the Trail 429 Pivot sweated the details—painstakingly developing the precise mix of resins, composite fibers, layup orientation, and frame shaping to create a chassis with the perfect blend of strength and stiffness. The frame's full-carbon construction uses leading-edge materials and Pivot's proprietary, hollow core, internal molding technology. A 130mm Fox 34 fork is paired with a 120mm Fox DPS rear shock for smooth, efficient suspension that's tuned for trail handling. The dw-linkage offers peerless braking performance, big-hit capability, and the perfect balance of traction and acceleration. This bike is compatible with both 29-inch and 27.5-inch plus tires and provides class-leading mud and tire clearance. Its ultra-short chainstays make easy work of the tightest trails, while the long-and-low geometry offers a confident, stable stance. The end result is a bike that’s calm and neutral on steep technical terrain, yet fun and flickable on the most twisted trails. Pivot gave the Trail 429 many of the same strength and stiffness-enhancing features that you’ll find on their gravity-oriented bikes, including a double-wishbone rear triangle, Super Boost Plus rear axle spacing, ultra-wide suspension linkages, and burly bearing assemblies. With the Trail 429, Pivot has upped the ante on downhill performance without any loss in versatility.
This is it: one of the finest, most versatile trail bikes anyone’s ever thrown a leg over. The 140mm of front suspension and 120mm of travel out back mean you can point the Horsethief Carbon XTR down just about any trail and roll with confidence. The Split Pivot rear suspension system all but eliminates brake chatter and pedal bob. The Shimano XTR group delivers incredibly light and precise shifts and the stopping power of four-piston brakes. The Reynolds C-Series carbon wheelset makes an agile bike even more fun. The flip chip and compatibility with 29" or 27.5 plus wheels add a layer of versatility to the whole package. Horsethief is the trail bike that prompts you to ride more: more miles, more terrain, more boldly.
Rustler Carbon XTR goes all-in on singletrack stoke. We started with a lightweight carbon frame and playful geometry, plus the climbing prowess and small-bump compliance of Split Pivot. Next, we added 27.5" carbon wheels to keep it as nimble as possible. Then, we gave it a Fox Float 36 Performance Elite Grip2 fork with 150mm of travel and a Fox Float DPS Performance Elite 130mm shock to soak up trail impacts. The finishing touch is Shimano’s flawless XTR drivetrain. Put it all together, and you have a bike that uses all of the technology at its disposal to maximize trail thrills. Rustler XTR is a carbon 27.5 trail bike that loves to get rowdy.
Every efficiency goes a long way when you’re going a long way. Spearfish Carbon XTR is full of touches designed to make tough rides easier, and easy rides more fun. The Fox Float 34 SC Performance Elite FIT4 fork provides 120mm of travel up front, complemented by the 100mm Fox Float DPS Performance Elite shock out back. Shimano’s XTR components deliver shifting bliss, and the Reynolds C-Series carbon wheels cut rotational weight to save you precious energy. When you seek inspiration for a ride, whether it be an escape or an adventure --- Start with a destination that draws you in. Tettegouche - a Fench-Canadian word meaning "A Meeting Place", is also a state park on the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota - bringing together land and lake by the power of a 70 foot tall waterfall courtesy of the Baptism River. The founders of the park thought that the area best represented the variety of Minnesota landscapes -- we believe that this bike is the ideal vehicle to experience all types of Northwoods terrain. What we promise with our Tettegouche all-road bike is that it will encourage exploration. It will not limit you. It will make your reasons to find a new path or rediscover an old one more convincing. You and this bike will ride whatever roads you choose because we built it for all of them. In the era of nitpicking geometry and innumerable “features,” this bike will always be inspirational, functional, and timeless. That’s what hand-built steel bikes do best. Why forge the first drop-bar full-suspension bike? Because Niner Bikes was founded in 2005 with a simple goal. Making riding on dirt a better experience, period. We’ve been pioneers in off road technology. First, it was the 29er wheel size. In 2008, it was our Constantly Varying Arc full suspension design. In 2013, it was the first RLT gravel bikes, purpose built for the demands of long days pedaling on rough surfaces. Fourteen years later, the MCR 9 RDO is a natural extension of our original effort. When you ride one, you’ll see. More comfort, more confidence, more control, and more fun and freedom. By adapting high performance suspension for gravel, we believe the MCR 9 will allow gravel riders to pedal comfortably, powerfully, with more control and confidence over once-unthinkable surfaces. We’re proud to be the pioneers bringing full suspension to gravel bikes. Nine things you need to know: 1. 50mm of stable yet supple CVA suspension with a refined curve for small bump performance and full travel. 2. Rear shock lockout with handlebar remote; fork lockout. 3. RDO carbon fiber main frame and rear triangle with forged, 1-piece linkages. 4. Integrated rear fender protects suspension components. 5. 11 fixed mounting points for frame bags, bottles, and more. 6. Removable front derailleur mount, for 2x and 1x chainring options. 7. Durable, long-lasting Enduro Max “Black Oxide” pivot bearings. 8. Clearance for 700x50c and 650b x 2.0 tires. 9. End-to-end, Full Sleeve internal cable guides including dropper post routing and integrated frame protection.

Endurance road geometry positions you for long-haul comfort, and extra frame and fork mounts help keep you supplied for all-day rides. Compatibility with both 700c and 650b wheels make this a versatile machine ready for wherever you ride. To top it all off, SRAM’s Force AXS group feels like the future of shifting, fitting for a bike that just might hint at the future of road riding.
High-tech meets high-performance in the Cutthroat GRX 810 Di2. A Fox Float 34 SC Performance Elite Fit4 fork delivers 120mm of front suspension travel to soak up the trail. A Fox Float DPS Performance Elite shock grants 100mm of travel in the rear. Shimano’s XT groupset puts consistent shifting and braking performance at your fingertips. Spearfish Carbon XT is the perfect choice when precision and speed are paramount.
The ALLROAD is a legitimate road racing machine. Put 25c tires on, and no watt goes wasted. It’s plenty light for epic climbs, it’s designed to deliver beefy stiffness under power, yet it has a gentle ease on chip seal. But put 35c tires on it and you’ll discover its alter ego -- a ripping-fast gravel bike easily capable of managing dirt hardpack and moderate rock. The ALLROAD is our Swiss Army Knife of bikes. Again and again we marvel at how dynamic it is at balancing road agility with off-road stability. A question we’re asked everyday is “ALLROAD or ABLE?” Both bikes offer heaps of versatility, but each has different leanings. If you’re looking for a bike capable of navigating steep, rock-intensive terrain -- including chunky gravel -- then you’ll want to choose the ABLE. But if your daily dirt is perhaps a bit less-rugged, such as dirt county roads and marble-like gravel, then the ALLROAD is unquestionably the best choice. The ALLROAD frameset will come as a frame, fork and headset. It requires a 27.2mm seatpost, a 68mm (English) threaded bottom bracket and flat-mount disc brakes.
Beargrease is constructed with a high-modulus carbon fiber frame. This material offers improved stiffness, better vibration damping, excellent durability, and weight savings compared to other frame materials. Its carefully designed geometry results in a fat bike that rides like a trail bike—it’s stable, steers well in loose conditions, and remains nimble and agile despite the massive wheels and tires. A low bottom bracket height is also key, keeping the rider’s center of gravity low, and making dabbing, dismounting, and remounting easier. Beargrease rolls on 27.5 x 3.8" wheels and tires. For groomed snow or dirt, the increase in diameter provides increased rollover, a longer contact patch, and the flotation of a 5" tire without the added rolling resistance. It’s also compatible with 26" and 29" wheels for dialing in the fit or terrain-dependent performance. The Beargrease Carbon frame features fully sleeved internal cable routing. This improves shifting performance in poor conditions, increases time between maintenance intervals, and makes running new cables and housing a breeze. It’s designed for the best drivetrain performance while maintaining narrow fat bike crank arms for less knee stress, with rider-friendly narrow Q-Factor cranks, a 1x optimized frame design, and room for up to a 32t max chainring. Beargrease Carbon features numerous accessory mounts, including toptube bosses for a Salsa EXP Series Toptube Bag (sold separately), 1 – 2 water bottle mounts inside the frame triangle (depending on frame size), and an accessory mount underneath the downtube. Plus, it’s compatible with dropper seatposts for true trail bike riding experiences. Featuring a full carbon design, the Kingpin Deluxe Fork is lightweight and durable and provides an amazing array of accessory bosses to help you make the most of your fat bike: dual sets of Three-Pack bosses on each leg accept bottle cages or our Anything Cage accessory, lowrider mounts work with our Down Under front rack for a traditional touring setup, and internal dynamo hub wire routing keeps the front end clean for those upgrading to dyno hubs. Beargrease Carbon X01 Eagle doesn’t just roll over anything, it flies. This is the ultimate fat bike designed to convert strength and determination into speed. It is built with a carbon frame, 80mm Mulefut SL rims paired with DT Swiss 350 hubs, and a SRAM Eagle X01 drivetrain for unrivaled performance.

The Ripmo AF (Aluminum Frame) brings the award-winning performance of the carbon Ripmo to a wider, rowdier audience. It’s everything we love from the carbon Ripmo, plus a few tweaks. Best of all, complete bikes start at only $3,000. Over our long tenure from mountain biking’s awkward adolescence to its current anything-shreddy era, we’ve experimented with steel, aluminum and titanium?—?remember the Bow-Ti, the first superbike? We remember the metal times too, and it feels good to offer a premium ride experience to our broadening family of riders, courtesy of durable, affordable aluminum alloy. With a steep, 76-degree seat tube angle and a rangy but not stratospheric reach, the Ripmo AF places riders centrally and upright over the bottom bracket. It makes for an efficient position that can go the long haul without placing too much weight on its slack, 64.9-degree headtube angle. A 44mm reduced-offset fork is more surefooted on steep descents and steadies high speeds. Better up, better down. Since 2005, we’ve partnered with suspension guru Dave Weagle on the dw-link suspension platform. It provides an unparalleled combination of climbing efficiency and downhill performance, which has been proven repeatedly at the highest levels of racing. The Ripmo AF is compatible with both coil and air shocks due to a more progressive leverage rate. It allows for coil’s linearity to thrive and we spec air shocks with tunes that provide pop without feeling too harsh. On the trail, it gives the suspension a supple feel throughout the entirety of the stroke, enhancing traction no matter how deep you dig. Now that we made the frames leverage rate progressive enough for a coil we had to find a coil shock that could handle the increased stress of being driven off of a clevis. The DVO JadeX is up to the challenge so the Ripmo AF comes with custom tuned DVO suspension. Ibis helped pioneer the wide rim revolution, which inspired the new crop of wider 2.4”?—?2.6” tires. When paired together, this combo can be run at ultra low pressures which results in elbow-dragging cornering traction without sacrificing straight line speed. We use words like small, medium, and large to describe our sizing because it’s easy to understand, but our ultra low standovers give you the ability to size your frame based on reach and preference. What’s better than a dropper post? A longer one. Our frames are designed to accommodate the longest dropper posts possible. Riders over 5’8 (or 173cm) can easily run a 185mm dropper post, while folks between 5’ and 5’8 (152cm?—?172cm) can use a post 125mm or longer depending on inseam length. We stand behind our products. If it’s our fault, we’ll fix it. Our aluminum frames are backed by the same 7 year warranty and excellent customer as our carbon products.
