If we had our way, every single person who buys the Dark Star frame (or any hardtail) would also buy a rigid fork to go with it. Nothing bums us out more than spending energy and resources on making things that don't have lasting value. MTB technology has evolved rapidly over the last decade. A bike that you bought six years ago may be considered obsolete by today's geometry and standards. The hardtail you buy today, might not be your trail rig a few years from now. However, with a rigid fork it can still provide considerable value as a transportation or bikepacking bike. That was the inspiration to create the Future Proof.
Paired with a rigid fork, your MTB will forever be a useful tool. Just look at all the 30 year old 26” wheeled hardtails that have been resurrected for daily riding duties the past few years. The Dark Star with the rigid fork is like that, but way more fun and playful as modern MTB geo and technology is a real marvel.
Also, the Future Proof has an axle to crown measurement of 501. If you take a 120mm suspension fork (531 ATC) and subtract 25% (30mm) of the travel for sag, you get 501. So to us, 501mm makes sense as the baseline for optimizing the handling characteristics of the bike and for the ideal length of a rigid fork companion. For some reason that eludes us, most rigid fork makers continue to use axle to crown lengths in the 483-490mm range. Our best guess is that it’s a holdover from wanting their forks to be able to be used on bikes that were 100mm or 80mm suspension corrected. To us this is an outdated standard as most of the hardtails our friends ride are at least 120mm travel if not greater. So we feel that 501mm is a much more useful length and pairs better with modern frames.
Paint is same sparkle black color as on Dark Star frame, but it should look good with any frame you pair it with.
Features:
- Suspension corrected for 120/130mm frames
- Segmented Construction
- 29 x 2.8” tires

- Fender and Rack Mounts

The Rambler continues a fine tradition in cycling, the drop bar all-arounder. It's capable of gravel centuries, quick road loops, light touring, b-roads, and of course daily life. The Rambler is a fully modern adaptation of the genre with disc brakes, thru axles and generous tire clearance. The world is vast and so are the possibilities, the Rambler invites you to fully explore them all.
It has all the mounts a rider could want and geometry that is nimble while still being comfortable for long days in the saddle. As with all Wilde's we prefer bikes with higher stack heights, as our philosophy is that comfortable is fast.
Being a production bike, we are able to offer this promise at a more affordable price point through our partnership with Taiwan's legendary Maxway factory. It comes in four sizes and is paired with our segmented steel fork.
The steel fork does have a slightly longer axle to crown measurement than the Wayfinder which gives the bike a bit higher trail number and a slightly elevated bottom bracket height, both are bonuses when it comes to riding more challenging off-road terrain or pairing with 650b size wheels.
FRAME
- Tire clearance 700c X 50mm or 650b X 2.2"
- Three pack mounts on top and bottom of down tube, bottle boss on seat tube

STEEL FORK

- Three-pack mounts with center braze-on doubling as a mid-- blade mount
- Internal dynamo routing
- Mounts for Surly 8 and 24-pack racks
- Tire clearance 700c X 50mm or 650b X 2.2"
GEOMETRY
Gravel geo with all-day comfort in mind. The taller stack height, slightly higher bottom bracket, and chatter-absorbing chainstays make the Rambler excellent for all-day explorations on pavement, dirt, and double track. Roadish head tube and seat tube angles keep everything quick and maneuverable.

The Dark Star is a premium steel hardtail built with a custom drawn BOSS tubeset and sliding dropouts. The sliding dropouts are useful for single speed adaptability as well as adjusting your wheelbase / rear triangle length for your terrain and riding style.
The geometry is fun, fast and playful. It is designed to be used with 120 or 130mm travel suspension fork or our own Future Proof rigid fork.
Designer's Notes
Modern jargon might call it a "downcountry" bike, but I call it the perfect all-around mtb for daily off-road riding.
It bucks the current hardtail design trend of long wheel bases and super slack head tubes. These things make sense to me on my 150mm travel dual suspension bike, but on a 120-130mm travel hardtail I feel they miss the plot. I reach for my hardtail for typically two reasons, one it's the most fun on the tight techy singletrack (which we have a lot of around here) or two because I've got some pedaling to do and I want to do it fast and efficiently. Whether it's a big climb, riding to the trails, a local race, or simply a lot of ground to cover that day.
Here then is what I want from my hardtail: I want it to feel fast as soon as I lay into the pedals, to be able to turn on a dime and be super flickable. And I want it to be fun and encourage me to hit all the little jumps and side hits that come my way. A mid-travel hardtail needs to be lively and handle correctly in all riding situations, not just when pointed downhill.
The Dark Star has a 66.5 headtube angle which I feel strikes the perfect balance between descending confidence and slow speed maneuverability. It also has a tall-ish bottom bracket for tight techy rock sections and ease of bunny hopping. It's adjustable dropouts allow the rider to change the chainstay length from 425 - 440mm so it can be fine tuned to your terrain and riding style
To me a short travel hardtail is all about immediate gratification, immediate fun from your house or the parking lot and all-terrain utility. It's sharp handling, but not too twitchy. You could race it if you wanted to, but you could also have a heck of a time blasting jumps or even do some bike packing.
- Jeff
The Darkstar is made by the fine folks at ORA in Taiwan.
Why we recommend also purchasing a Future Proof rigid fork:
If we had our way, every single person who buys the Dark Star frame (or any hardtail) would also buy a rigid fork to go with it. We hate the notion that MTB standards change so quickly that in five years your new MTB may be “obsolete.” This problem is easily solved though.
Paired with a rigid fork, your MTB will forever be a useful tool as a transportation or bikepacking bike. Just look at all the 30 year old 26” wheeled hardtails that have been resurrected for daily driving duties the past few years. The Dark Star with the rigid fork is like that, but way more fun and playful as modern MTB geo and technology is a real marvel.
Features:
- BOSS Premium Steel Super Tubes
- Sliding Dropouts for adjusting wheelbase or single speed operation
- UDH Compatible
- 29x2.6” tire clearance
- Bottle Mounts: two in main triangle on Large and X-Large, one on Small and Medium
- Three Pack Mounts: Under downtube - all sizes
- Top Tube Feed Bag Mount
- Stealth Dropper Routing
Geometry:
- Fast, aggressive, and playful trail geometry. Our ideal blend of fun to pedal and easy to rip.
Tubing:
- BOSS Super Tubes. These are a Wilde exclusive, made just for us according to our precise needs and priorities. BOSS Super Tubes are air-hardened, custom-extruded, seamless steel tubing. Super premium. We are no longer tied to the available off-the-shelf options, we can truly pursue the boundaries of strength and lightweight without the constraint of being limited by the available tubing. Whatever tube diameter, wall thickness, or butting profile we believe is best for an application, we can now just make it.
- We can also do outlandish and techy stuff. Like for instance you might notice that the Dark Star lacks a gusset on the downtube / headtube junction? The reason is that the steel downtube itself is asymmetrically butted at the headtube junction. That's right, it's way thicker at the bottom of the tube where it meets the headtube. This results in no need to weld in an additional gusset. Which means lighter overall weight and less heat affected zones. Neat, huh?

It’s a single speed or geared cyclocross racer. That’s it, that’s what it’s for…
As we no longer need our cyclocross bikes to also be our gravel bikes, the Mean Jean has aggressive race geometry: a tallish (66mm) bb height and a short 415mm rear end. It fits a 44c tire in the back and is a riot in the dirt. It’s way more flickable on trail than a modern gravel bike, which needs to be stable at 35mph while descending a dusty road surface made of marbles. Strangely enough, for some riders the short wheelbase and agile handling will actually make it the “gravel” bike they’ve been dreaming of.
It’ll go anywhere, but the features, or lack thereof, speak to its intended purpose. Two bottle mounts. No fenders, no racks. Simple. Though because of the way our carbon fork molds work, it does actually have internal dynamo routing in the fork. Good for folks who want to use it for night time excursions.
Features:
- B.O.S.S. Premium Steel Supertubes
- Sliding Dropouts
- UDH Compatible
- 700x44c tire clearance
- Internal cable routing
- Bottle Mounts: two in main triangle
- Wilde Waypoint Carbon Fork (without eyelets)

It comes in five sizes and is paired with our segmented steel fork.
The steel fork does have a slightly longer axle to crown measurement than the Wayfinder which gives the bike a bit higher trail number and a slightly elevated bottom bracket height, both are bonuses when it comes to riding more challenging off-road terrain or pairing with 650b size wheels.
Speaking of 650b, the X-Small size was specifically designed for 650b's which we feel is a much more appropriate wheel standard for a frame of this size and allows us to design a smaller bike with with zero handling compromises or toe overlap. It also fits a tire up to 2.4".
Designers Notes
The Rambler continues a lineage that started with the Space Horse and Space Horse Disc. I believe that even if you have a different bike for every purpose, you’ll still want to have one bike that can truly do it all. The Rambler has all the relevant mounts and features, paired with contemporary gravel geometry and a comfortable high stack riding position, to take you wherever you want to go. My own Rambler is built with 650b wheels and a vintage eight speed triple drivetrain and I use it for long mixed terrain rides, touring, and quite often light singletrack in the Minnesota River Bottoms and local bootleg trails. It’s never let me down and seldom felt like the wrong choice. - Jeff

FAAAASSSTT! The Nano 40c is built for speed, and let’s just politely say it delivers. A 40mm, rounded profile and an elevated centerline provide enough volume for lower tire pressures and a smoother ride while still reducing drag and rolling resistance. This makes for an all out gravel destroyer that can still appease those clamoring for a truly big cyclocross tire. Winner? We think so. So does everybody else. Don't believe us? Just ask. Everybody's irrefutable favorite, 'nough said.

- Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
- Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.

A special edition print of our versatile mid-distance jersey made in partnership with the artist Pablo Azócar. Velocio’s ONE Jersey is an exceptionally capable piece of equipment for any short to mid-distance ride.
Mind and Machine
To create his art, Pablo Azócar draws on inspiration from the real world and turns it into something a computer can read, before being brought to life by a penplotter. This translation of real to digital to real is where the creative process happens — and Azócar's creative talent lies in his ability as a liaison between mediums.
