The ultimate 650B bikepacking tire is designed for rides where you don’t know what lies ahead. Umtanum Ridge a steep and lonesome ridge in the central Cascade Mountains. It is so remote that European settlers never renamed it, and it carries its ancestral Native American name to this day.
The Umtanum Ridge’s large and widely spaced knobs grip tenaciosly when conditions get tough. On pavement, it rolls and corners like a slick thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The Umtanum Ridge features our noise cancellation technology: The staggered tread blocks create overlapping noise frequencies that partially cancel each other. This means that on most surfaces, the Umtanum Ridge doesn’t just roll as fast as a slick – it’s also as quiet as a slick.
The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. The Extralight casing takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. The Endurance casing is reinforced for extra sidewall protection and puncture resistance, while retaining the speed and comfort for which Rene Herse tires are famous. The Endurance Plus casing provides the ultimate in sidewall protection for extremely tough conditions.
The Umtanum Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant. When used with tubes, we recommend SV13 or SV14 tubes.
Pro Tip: The noise cancellation improves further during the first 30 miles (50 km) as the sharp edges of the knobs wear off a little.

The ultimate tire for speedy gravel adventures! The Antelope Hill is the all-road version of our popular Fleecer Ridge knobby.
Antelope Hill is the last great climb on the 360-mile Oregon Outback mixed-surface ride/race. Oregon’s gravel is quite loose in places, and the extra flotation of the Antelope Hill tires gives you more speed and security there. On paved sections, this tire rolls as fast and grip as well as a good racing tire, giving you the best of both worlds.
The ultimate tire for bikepacking and gravel adventures – and recipient of Bikepacking.com’s coveted ‘Gear of the Year’ award for the ‘Best New Component.’ Developed together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, the Fleecer Ridge measures 29? x 2.2? (or 700C x 55 mm), making it a perfect fit for bikepacking bikes.
We name our tires after the passes that inspire them: Fleecer Ridge is the toughest climb on the incredible Tour Divide that traverses the Rocky Mountains from Canada to the Mexican border. On a ride that long, you’ll need a tire that can handle a huge range of conditions, from deep snow and mud via fast gravel to pavement as you descend into towns to resupply.
The Fleecer Ridge grips like a knobby when conditions get tough. On pavement, it rolls like a slick tire thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The Fleecer Ridge is the world’s first bicycle tire with noise cancellation: The staggered tread blocks create overlapping noise frequencies that partially cancel each other. This feature is so revolutionary that we’ve patented it. Thanks to the superior materials used in its construction, the Fleecer Ridge is one of the lightest tires in its class.

Whether you race gravel or head into unknown terrain, the Hurricane Ridge gives you the confidence that you’ll be able to handle everything from fast pavement to deep mud or snow. Named after one of the biggest climbs in the Northwest, the Hurricane Ridge uses our revolutionary dual-purpose knobby tread. The tire is always supported by the same amount of rubber, whether it’s rolling forward or leaning into a turn. This gives you uniform grip at all times – whether in a muddy gravel race or during a paved descent with ultra-fast hairpin turns.

The Bon Jon Pass is our Goldilocks tire: at 700C x 35 mm, it fits bikes that have extra clearance around the Stampede Pass (32 mm), but not enough space for a Barlow Pass (38mm). We name our tires after the passes that inspire them: Bon Jon Pass is a remote pass on the Olympic Peninsula. The moderate gradient allows you to let your bike fly, and these tires are perfect for the smooth gravel surface of the pass and for the chip-sealed asphalt that covers the approach.
The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. All-road tires don’t get any better than this! We name our tires after the passes in the Cascade Mountains that inspire them: Snoqualmie Pass was the route of the Olympian Hiawatha express train to Seattle. Today, a trail heads up the pass, with spectacular views as you traverse the old railroad trestles. You’ll enjoy the speed and grip of the supple casing on the paved sections of the climb, and the large air volume will have you float over the rough gravel rather than grind through it.
The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. At 48 mm wide, the Hatcher Pass hits the sweet spot between narrow gravel tire (38 mm) and mountain bike volume (55 mm) – ideal for the latest generation of gravel and all-road bikes. Named after Lael Wilcox’ favorite road in Alaska, this tire perfect for Hatcher Pass: The front side of the climb is paved and leads to Independence Mine (an abandoned gold mine that is now a state park). The back side is dirt. In August and September there are fields full of wild blueberries near the top.
The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. A road-centric knobby? A dirt-ready road tire? You decide! At 48 mm wide, the Oracle Ridge hits the sweet spot between narrow gravel tire (38 mm) and mountain bike volume (55 mm) – ideal for the latest generation of gravel and all-road bikes.
We’ve developed the Oracle Ridge together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, and we’ve named it after one of Lael’s favorite routes: Oracle Ridge is a beautiful gravel climb outside Tucson, AZ, which connects to the backside of Mount Lemmon for an ultra-fast descent on pavement.
On the gravel climb, this tire grips tenaciously thanks to its large and widely spaced knobs. On the descent, it corners like a slick thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road.
The Oracle Ridge features our patented noise cancellation technology: The staggered tread blocks create overlapping noise frequencies that partially cancel each other. The Oracle Ridge’s speed, grip and lack of noise make you forget you’re riding a knobby – until you hit some loose or muddy ground and appreciate the extra grip.

Trying to choose between a knobby, semi-slick, or full slick for an upcoming ride or race? The Manastash Ridge handles everything from fast pavement to deep mud or snow. Named after a rugged ridge in central Washington, the Manastash Ridge uses our revolutionary dual-purpose knobby tread. Strategic placement of the knobs means the tire is always supported by the same amount of rubber, whether rolling forward or leaning into a turn. This gives you uniform grip at all times – whether in a muddy gravel race or during a paved descent with ultra-fast hairpin turns.
Our new Brake Support technology ensures that the knobs don’t fold over, even under the massive g-forces generated by the best hydraulic discs. Noise canceling technology makes this knobby tire as quiet and smooth as a slick—even on pavement. No matter what the course throws at you, the Manastash Ridge has you covered.
The Manastash Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant. When used with tubes, we recommend SV17 or SV18 tubes.
Pro Tip: The noise cancellation improves further during the first 30 miles (50 km) as the sharp edges of the knobs wear off a little.

The Orondo Grade is a modern tubeless road tire with the performance, comfort and ride feel that our Rene Herse tires are famous for. It’s rated to a max. pressure of 90 psi (6.2 bar)—enough for heavy riders and those who prefer a stiffer feel to their bikes. A high-tech liner keeps our supple casings airtight without making the tire stiff and sluggish.
We name our tires after the roads that inspire them: Orondo Grade is a 7-mile 10% climb up a side canyon of the mighty Columbia River. The Orondo Grade was the half-way point—and often decisive climb—of the near-mythical, long-defunct 285-mile cross-state race, S2S ‘Seattle-to-Spokane.’ Snaking up a canyon carved into basalt cliffs, the Orondo Grade is hot and barren—a true test of endurance. (The photo shows Jan in the early 2000s leading the race up the Orondo Grade.)
The Orondo Grade is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant.
Pro Tip: While the Orondo Grade can be used with tubes, we recommend our 700C x 32 Stampede Pass for use with tubes, unless you need the Endurance casing.
