Combining light and durable tubes with a full strength 840d Ballistic Nylon Floor and our innovative Late Rise Bow, the Caribou is the ultimate backcountry front end loader. At just 4lbs 12oz (5lbs with a Cargo Fly), the Caribou is also the lightest full sized packraft on the market. It’s the perfect packraft for bikerafting and big ultralight backcountry adventures.
Product Description
For many years, the only way to carry your gear on large, multi-sport packraft adventures was either inside the boat on the floor, or mounted to the bow. However, in 2011, we changed the game completely when we invented the Cargo Fly internal gear storage system. This design not only kept your gear drier, it also dramatically increased handling and whitewater performance. However, it didn’t solve the problem of carrying large bulky items like bicycles, big game animals, and large packs on the bow.
So we designed the Caribou with the Late Rise Bow, that combines the stability and load carrying ability of a rockerless hull with the whitewater and wave performance of a rockered hull. Unlike anything else on the market, the Late Rise Bow still provides a rocker to shed waves and whitewater, but it moves the beginning of the rocker in front of the bow’s mounted load. The result is a broad stable platform for mounting bulky and heavy items like bicycles that carries them high and keeps them out of the water when paddling. And, the load remains balanced and stable on both water and land.
To keep the weight and bulk at an absolute minimum, while preserving our legendary durability, we utilized the same lightweight 210-denier high count nylon fabric as the Scout and the 840-denier floor featured in our other packrafts. The result is an ultralight, full-size bikeraft or ultralight hunting raft that rolls up small for stashing in a pack or on your handlebar roll. It’s also available with a Cargo Fly, for keeping bulky gear on the bow and loose gear inside and dry.
Note: Due to the specialized bags utilized by most bike-packers, Cargo Fly models do not include internal dry bags or internal attachments for clipping dry bags in place. However, internal dry bags can be purchased separately and used in the Caribou without the internal attachments.

With big blades and even bigger weight savings, this compactible, high-performing paddle is made with carbon from tip to tip.
- Redesigned, stronger blade. The blade shape provides a smoother forward stroke with less chances for flutter, stiffer feel, and quieter entry and exit. The upgraded carbon + nylon blade material is stronger (meaning less flex) and thicker, making it more durable and robust long-term.
- Carbon-reinforced nylon blades are engineered to be the best option in plastics, renowned for their combination strength, weight, and stiffness.
- 102.5 sq. inch blade it the ideal size for quick boat maneuverability, while the sharp dihedral provides a silky-smooth forward stroke with zero tolerance for fluttering, preserving your energy for longer paddling trips.
- The traditional “oversized” blade design provides better horsepower and control, most commonly associated with high-angle forward strokes and those doing flatwater kayaking, packrafting, racing, and kayak fishing.
- 100% carbon shaft is the lightest material available, so paddling is less fatiguing and more enjoyable on longer trips. The carbon weave is tight and secure, making it one of the strongest options available.
- The shaft is ovalized where the hands go for more comfort and control, and to limit the chances for blisters.
- The Posi-Lok™ ferrule is the gold-standard in paddlesports today, known for the secure fit, simplicity, and longevity. Paddlers enjoy the quick, intuitive ability to adjust the blade offset in 15-degree increments depending on wind and other paddling conditions. The carbon ferrule offers a robust solution that can last years to come.
- Carbon ferrule insert is light, tight, and right for the long haul. This is a sizable upgrade over plastic or glass ferrule inserts.
- Two snap-buttons are carefully placed in the blade pegs to allow for 4-piece disassembly. This compartmentalized fit is ideal for storage, backpacking, packrafting, and as a back-up paddle. The tight fitting 4pc blades feel just the same as standard 2pc construction.
- Proudly hand built in Osceola, Wisconsin, USA, by a team of paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Save your lungs for the hike with the Pack-A-Pump. The Pack-A-Pump is ultralight, compact and directly threads on to your Alpacka Raft valve to ensure that your boat is always running at optimal pressure. Built in storage in the plunger handle means that your repair and Cargo Fly maintenance materials are always at your finger tips. The Pack-A-Pump is NOT compatible with other brand's valves.
Description
What do you do when there is nothing on the market that does what you need? You start fresh and build your own. We've been looking for the perfect top off pump for over a decade. Something light and compact enough to fit in your backpack but durable enough for regular use. Exercise ball pumps are lightweight, compact, and cheap but difficult to use with packraft valves and easy to break. The K-Pump is elegantly designed, easy to use, Made in the USA and bombproof. It's a great pump for sidecountry and roadside use, but even the mini size is too big for backpacking.
So we built the Pack-A-Pump, featuring polycarbonate tubing and a direct thread interface with our valves so that it is half the size and weight of the K-Pump mini at only 7ounces and just over 10 inches long. It's the perfect size to fit in your pack or bow bag, but still top off your boat in about 30-40 pumps. And being the weight and space savers that we are, we added internal storage to the pump handle so you can keep your repair essentials and Cargo Fly maintenance kit on hand at all times.
Note: The Pack-A-Pump's direct thread valve interface is only compatible with post-2017 style Alpacka Raft temper assist valves. It will not work with 2016 and earlier Alpacka dump valves and nozzles or any other brand of inflatable boat.
Top Off Instructions
- Inflate your Alpacka Raft with the inflation bag.
- Once inflated, twist the Pack-A-Pump clockwise onto the threads of your valve (Not compatible with other valves).
- Pump your Pack-A-Pump until your boat is firm to the touch (1.5 - 2.0 PSI). Never exceed 2.5 PSI (hard to the touch).
- Unthread the pump by turning it clockwise and screw the valve cap back onto the valve.
- Temper your boat by putting it in the water and splashing it down. This will cause air in the tubes to contract. Repeat steps 1-4 until your boat is firm to the touch while in the water.
Warning: Overinflating your packraft or leaving a fully tempered packraft in the sun can cause irreversible damage to your packraft and Cargo Fly zipper and is not covered by warranty. Always reduce your air pressure any time you are on shore taking a break from paddling. Retemper your packraft when you are ready to paddle again.
Plunger Storage Instructions
- Untwist the blue cap on the pump.
- Fill the plunger tube with small items to store (repair kit, sharps, cargo fly maintenance, etc.).
-Twist the cap back on the pump and tighten.
Note: Avoid storing loose repair glues like Aquaseal in the pump as they may burst if during the pumping process. Protect them by wrapping in a soft cloth or plastic bag.
Maintenance
The Pack-A-Pump includes a spare o-ring and lubricant packet (TiZip lubricant can also be used). The Pack-A-Pump is pre-lubricated, but with frequent use you will need to relubricate the o-ring when the pump gets dirty or dry. To service, remove the retaining screws and withdraw the plunger assembly. Clean the tube and plunger head with a soft cloth if dirty. Apply a bead of lubricant to the o-ring and the inside of the barrel. Reassemble the pump and you are ready to go. If your o-ring wears out or breaks, replace with the spare o-ring located in the bottom of the pump barrel.
